Mt. Nelson Signal Station

Hello! I hope that you are well.

I drew the Signal Station on Mt. Nelson in Tasmania, on location. I circled it on foot several times before deciding to draw it from this perspective. I could feel myself sink into the zone when my concentration levels went into full gear trying to draw the round roof.

I added watercolour paint to the drawing at home. It is painted on Khadi Mill paper that is made from recycled cotton rags.

The Signal Station was established in 1811 as Tasmania’s first signal station, and it played an important role in maritime communication. Initially, signals were conveyed using flags, with a more advanced semaphore system was introduced in 1831, which enabled it handle many more signals. This system was crucial for early shipping and communication in the Hobart area, making Mount Nelson an integral part of Tasmania’s maritime history.

This watercolour painting has  my full signature on the back of the painting. The painting is approximately 15 x 15 cm. It is available for purchase at https://pjpaintings.com/collections/original-paintings/products/original-painting-of-mount-nelson-signal-station

Wishing you a great week, from Patricia (PJ)
