I do quite a lot of urban sketching, which involves sitting outdoors, drawing and painting the view in front of you. I like to draw cottages and houses, but lately, I have really been wanting to draw indoor scenes and furniture. I was so pleased that I was able to draw this red sofa chair in a historic house located in North Hobart, Tasmania.
I drew the picture on location and painted half of it in the sitting room where the red chair lives. I finished the rest of the painting at home. I have included a photo of the finished painting and the painting in progress.
This watercolour painting was painted on Clairefontaine 300gsm cold pressed, watercolour paper. It has my full signature on the back of the painting. The painting is approximately 15 x 19 cm. It is a one-off original and there are no prints made of it.
