Richmond Red Roof Beauty

I do quite a lot of urban sketching, which involves sitting outdoors, drawing, and sometimes painting, the view in front of you. I like to draw cottages and houses. This well-maintained house in Richmond, Tasmania, caught my eye. I was enchanted by the details, the different colours used under the verandah beam to accentuate the pattern, the dormers, red roof, all framed by a vibrant hedge. 

I drew the picture on location, while waiting for a business to open, and then I added paint at home. 

This watercolour painting was painted on Clairefontaine 300gsm cold pressed, watercolour paper. It has my full signature on the back of the painting. The painting is approximately 15 x 19 cm. It is a one-off original and there are no prints made of it.
